July- my birthday month and the end of summer which means school preparations.
Ugh. Not ready.
This tweet just about summarizes it up
So let’s start summarizing my July read.
I finished ‘Eligible‘ by Curtis Sittenfeld and I thought that it would be a great rom-com. Maybe I’m biased, but the original was better.
I did use the characters from the most recent movie as the characters in my head. I tried to recast it, but I couldn’t lol.
They modernized pretty much everything except Darcy. While Bingley became Chip- Fitzwilliam Darcy stayed Fitzwilliam Darcy.
There were no class wars instead there were gender issues. The “scandal” wasn’t really a ‘scandal’ (if you’ve read the book or seen the movie you’ll know exactly what I mean). There was also an addition of a Bachelor-esque reality show. And to get a little R rated- there wasn’t really any sexual tension between Liz and Darcy. In fact they seemed to be a lot ‘closer’ in this version.
I need to re-read the Jane Austen original, but this version stayed true to its name. It’s very modernized.
Short review: A modernized American take on an English classic.
Blog StatsI really picked a great time to start sharing my blog stats… they were WAAAAAY down this month due to my vacay. Ugh. And they just went back up after my blogging break-back to work for me!
My latest obsessionSo there wasn’t anything really ‘new’ to post about for my MLO until the 28th of July. I think it still counts if I just started being OBSESSED with it 4 days before the month ended.
Monthly recapAs you might’ve gleamed from my Instagram, July is my birthday month and when we take our annual CA trip. The first of the month was boring, but the last two weeks were jammed packed with birthdays, celebrations, new experiences, shopping and of course traveling.
My CA recap post will be up later in the week, but here’s a photo that sums up most of my time there.
Okay, not really, I spent a lot of time with my cousins and in traffic and of course eating. Stay tuned for the full recap.
Why did The Beatles never succeed in tennis?
Because they thought that all they needed was love.
‘Raining Tacos’, ‘The Gummy Bear Song’ and ‘The Imperial March’ were playing constantly during our trip to CA. My 5 year old nephew was constantly yelling “ALEXA PLAY _______”! So naturally those songs were stuck in my head.
