July- my birthday month and the end of summer which means school preparations.
Ugh. Not ready.

Due to my vacation, my July monthly mixings/monthly roundup is posted at the beginning of August!

This tweet just about summarizes it up

So true it hurts.

So let’s start summarizing my July read.

I finished ‘Eligible‘ by Curtis Sittenfeld and I thought that it would be a great rom-com. Maybe I’m biased, but the original was better.

I did use the characters from the most recent movie as the characters in my head. I tried to recast it, but I couldn’t lol.

They modernized pretty much everything except Darcy. While Bingley became Chip- Fitzwilliam Darcy stayed Fitzwilliam Darcy.

There were no class wars instead there were gender issues. The “scandal” wasn’t really a ‘scandal’ (if you’ve read the book or seen the movie you’ll know exactly what I mean). There was also an addition of a Bachelor-esque reality show. And to get a little R rated- there wasn’t really any sexual tension between Liz and Darcy. In fact they seemed to be a lot ‘closer’ in this version.

I need to re-read the Jane Austen original, but this version stayed true to its name. It’s very modernized.

Short review: A modernized American take on an English classic.

P.S.- I’m planned on reading ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’, but this book and this book came in the mail while I was away and I reaaaaally want to read them. #avidreaderproblems.

Blog Stats

I really picked a great time to start sharing my blog stats… they were WAAAAAY down this month due to my vacay. Ugh. And they just went back up after my blogging break-back to work for me!

My latest obsession

So there wasn’t anything really ‘new’ to post about for my MLO until the 28th of July. I think it still counts if I just started being OBSESSED with it 4 days before the month ended.

Okay, so these are designed to take off your makeup on one side AND exfoliate your face on the other! It’s really a win-win product.

They come in a variety of colors/benefits/smells and they don’t break the bank. Click here to view all of the options.

I don’t know why I’m just now finding these-it’s not like they’re a new product.

Monthly recap

As you might’ve gleamed from my Instagram, July is my birthday month and when we take our annual CA trip. The first of the month was boring, but the last two weeks were jammed packed with birthdays, celebrations, new experiences, shopping and of course traveling.

My CA recap post will be up later in the week, but here’s a photo that sums up most of my time there.

My aunt’s dog, Casper, who loves to sit like this and always looks like he’s smiling/smirking.

Okay, not really, I spent a lot of time with my cousins and in traffic and of course eating. Stay tuned for the full recap.

Why did The Beatles never succeed in tennis?

Because they thought that all they needed was love.

‘Raining Tacos’, ‘The Gummy Bear Song’ and ‘The Imperial March’ were playing constantly during our trip to CA. My 5 year old nephew was constantly yelling “ALEXA PLAY _______”! So naturally those songs were stuck in my head.

What was your July like?

i love this babe, i hope you had an amazing birthday and congratulations by the way!

  • haha OMG my kids LOVE that gummy bear song, such a nightmare! Great book review, I was thinking of reading it but now I may pass. 🙂

    • Lol IMO nothing beats the original.

  • Nicole Coppins

I definitely need to try those makeup remover/ exfoliating wipes. I recently hopped on the micellar water bandwagon for taking off my makeup, but those wipes seem cool. A good alternative to my micellar water for travel/ packing a carry on! XO, Nicole // http://www.nicolecoppins.com

    • I love micellar water! But yes, these are ideal for traveling.

  • That sounds like an interesting remake. I tend to like modern versions of the classics, but you’re right- you can’t really beat the classics themselves! Also, need those wipes! I typically use two types, one to remove makeup and one to clean- this sounds like the perfect product for that!

    • I did too until I saw these! So handy!

  • LEWAL

My July was pretty chill, went to the beach, pool, BBQ’d a bit, played miniature golf and the highlight was attending a Harry Potter Concert! I Am intrigued by this gummy bear song LOL, will look this up!
