So I have to admit that I was writing this blog post in my head as the trip elapsed, then when I went to make the Pinterest graphic just now I couldn’t find the right picture for it. Obviously I went for a neutral-flowers.
Again, my other CA posts were on my other blog so I can’t link back to it. 🙁 It was a long trip-we spent two weeks in CA so let’s get to the recap.
First 2 days there
So we flew in to John Wayne airport (probably my favorite airport so far) and we were picked up by my aunts then we all stayed at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa. We arrived late Tuesday so we ate at the hotel then went straight to bed.
Wednesday morning was laid back and easy. We had breakfast then I spent the rest of our time reading on the balcony while my mom and aunts got facials.
In the afternoon, mom’s classmates came to visit and they spent the whole day chatting, laughing and you guessed it-eating.
The next day we checked out, had breakfast with friends then made our way to San Diego.
In SD, we stayed with my cousin. The day was spent catching up really then we went to the pool with our nephew.
Friday we went to the Liberty Public Market for dinner. It was like a flea market for almost every kind of food you can think of. In short we got empanadas, pad thai, homemade ravioli, beignets, salad, and an eclair. We ate outside and tried to guess the airplanes flying overhead.
Saturday was a lazy day well actually it was a food shopping/spa day. We didn’t really take pic although I did get a pic of my boba drink (duhhh).
Then came Sunday-kayaking day.
We started out at around 10:30. There were 5 of us so my cousin ended up paddle boarding. We were at Glorietta Bay– we started at the beach then went under the Coronado bridge (which is HUGE).
We got back around 11:40 then drove back to Chula Vista. The rest of the day was spent doing nothing except watching Wonder Woman. We were all freaking tired.
Monday was spent at La Jolla where we just roamed around UTC. They were doing
some a lot of construction (we got lost like 5 times) then it took us a little longer to get back because of the traffic.
Tuesday and Wednesday was spent running errands, reading (for me) studying (for my cousin) and going to Seafood City (for my mom). I finished ‘Eligible‘ and started listening to Cherringham (I’m HOOKED- thanks Audible).
Thursday was *drumroll please* MY 24TH BIRTHDAY!
When the traffic rush was pretty much over, we headed back home to pick up my nephew from Phoenix and we went back to the pool.
Friday afternoon was spent at Fashion Valley with my Phoenix cousins and we ate dinner at my aunt’s house. I had a HORRIBLE headache so she gave me two Tylenol PMs-long story short, I passed out at 8 then woke up at 10:30 the next day.
Saturday was the giant birthday celebration. We congregated at my aunts house to eat (I’m sensing a theme here…) and there were 4 birthday celebrants. My other aunt, an uncle and I shared the chocolate cake and my nephew (who’s allergic to eggs and milk) had a cake made up of vegan doughnuts.
On Sunday, I was still recovering from the Tylenol PMs I took (never again) so while my cousins went kayaking/paddle boarding again I slept in (#sorrynotsorry).
We had lunch at my aunt’s house (leftovers galore!) and some of my relatives left to drive back to their homes. I mainly spent the day with the dogs.
Monday (the day before we left) we packed up and then went to Mission Valley. We passed the time at Nordstrom Rack (we didn’t mean to get anything, but mom and I got some workout outfits). Then we had dinner at Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza. Even though it was after my birthday we celebrated again-this time with a messy sundae. I also unintentionally showed my relatives how to take boomerangs and they were all too entertained.
We left early the next day for Texas! The day was uneventful until they almost lost my chair and we almost missed our flight. I loved our trip, but I’m so glad to be home. I missed our dog.
P.S. he’s still mad at us for leaving him.
